JANUARY 2009. LAST DAY OF OUR INAUGURATION VACATION. We spent our last day in Washington visiting the National Zoo. it was a lovely clear day, and we enjoyed watching the pandas Mei Xian, and her baby, Tian Tian.

Our good fortune provided us with a chance for photo op of the first public appearance of the sweet baby gorilla...just two weeks old~! If you want to see more of the zoo, please click the link: http://picasaweb.google.com/PeaceMealGarden/InaugurationVacationDay5##

January 2009 Another sad day for us. The life of our dear friend Buddha, came to an end. These are the last few images that we have, taken during his final days. Craig Robinson took the last one. http://www.flipflopflying.com

I will put together a tribute of Buddha's long adventurous lifetime. I'm trying to get some puppy photos from his childhood, in Houston, Texas. His story will be told here soon. Buddha was a special soul...confirmed by all who knew him.

New Year's Day 2009...Tragedy at the Estacada Public Library. Wade Creek floods, filling our new library with nearly a foot of water. Everything on the two lower shelves was destroyed. these are photos taken moments after the water drained out. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The next few posts cover ten years of our lives loving Miss Flora (Hungarian Kuvasz) We did the homework to find the right breed for us.

We were blessed to find Miss Flora, living with her littermates and her Mama in a barn with small goats, rabbits and chickens as her first playmates.

At PeaceMealGarden Flora missed her brothers and sisters, but she grew up fast.

Every single day Flora worked hard to guard her friends and family. She never forgot you, once you were part of her flock. You would never get lost, and no one could ever harm you if Flora was by your side.

This intuitive Being gave us her unconditional love. Flora's wise and well-considered guardianship kept us all safe.

She was an astounding creature and we are honored to have known her. If you want to see a slideshow of Miss Flora's Happy Life, click the link:

It's been a long time since I posted here. We had a sort of rough winter with lots of snow in December, a flood in our local library, and several dear friends departing from our lives.

We're pleased to have had a wonderful adventure in January, when we were witness to history, at the historic inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington DC. We will never forget it~!

This poor blog has been nearly abandoned, but I have been getting some requests to bring it up to date.

I'm going to try to do what I can to fill in the blanks, then I'll try my best to keep up regular postings. I missed an entire season, but it'sspring here now. I'll try to post once a week...most likely on the week-ends~! Please leave comments~!

Thank you to all the readers who have not given up on me. If you want to see what's been happening at PeaceMealGarden for the last few months, please feel free to see ALL of my public photo albums at: http://picasaweb.google.com/PeaceMealGarden
